The Lee County Trojans suffered their biggest loss since November 25, 2023 on Monday. Their rough 61-40 defeat to Dougherty might stick with them for a while. Lee County was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Dougherty apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in November of 2022.
Despite the defeat, Lee County saw an underclassman step up: Camya Hutcherson scored ten points along with seven steals. Another player making a difference was Taliyah Porter, who scored five points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
Even though they lost, Lee County smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. This was only their eighth loss (out of 12 games) when they hit their own glass that hard.
Dougherty's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was D'asia M. Simmons, who scored 11 points along with seven steals and five assists. Amiyah Jackson was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with six rebounds and four steals.
Lee County are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-10. As for Dougherty, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 11-7 record this season.
Lee County won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Houston County at 6:00 p.m. on January 16th. Dougherty on the road again on Friday and play against Thomasville at 6:00 p.m. on January 19th.
