Two dominant signal callers in Michael Hawkins and Luke Ullrich are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Emerson Mavericks are on the road again on Friday and play against the Colleyville Heritage Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on December 1st. Emerson has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 696 points over their last 13 matches.
With a playoff game on the line, Emerson rose to the challenge on Friday. They walked away with a 55-42 victory over the Raiders. This was one game where the offenses had no trouble playing at a high level.
Hawkins continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, throwing for 217 yards and four touchdowns while completing 85% of his passes, and also punching in a touchdown on the ground. The team also got some help courtesy of Kameron Lockhart, who gained 85 total yards and three touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Colleyville Heritage came tearing into Friday's matchup with 11 straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 35.8 points) and they left with even more momentum. They secured a 38-34 W over Argyle. This was one game where the offenses had no trouble playing at a high level.
Colleyville Heritage's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Ullrich, who rushed for 146 yards and a touchdown on only 14 carries, and also threw for 280 yards and three touchdowns. Another player making a difference was Hayden Golden, who gained 147 total yards and three touchdowns.
Their wins lifted both teams to an identical 11-2.
We should be in store for an exciting game Friday as Emerson and Colleyville Heritage have no problem gaining yardage. Emerson has been on an offensive roll this season, having averaged 497.7 total yards per game. However, it's not like Colleyville Heritage struggles in that department as they've been averaging 407.8 per game.
