D'Hanis is 8-2 against Medina since March of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Cowboys will square off against the Bobcats at 4:30 p.m. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as D'Hanis comes in on three and Medina on four.
D'Hanis took a 13-run loss the last time they faced off against Leakey, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Cowboys sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-3 victory over the Eagles on Tuesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Cowboys have posted since March 1st.
The team relied heavily on Julianne Busse, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one triple and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Peyton Beard, who scored a run while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.
Meanwhile, Medina made easy work of Richland Springs on Friday and carried off a 14-2 victory. Considering the Bobcats have won nine games by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Hattie Barton made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off seven hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March of 2024.
In other batting news, Medina let Brylee Joseph and Zoey Taylor run wild. Joseph scored two runs and stole four bases while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances, while Taylor scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. Those three hits gave Taylor a new career-high. Georgia Hickman also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.
Medina pushed their record up to 10-5 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 17.3 runs over those games. As for D'Hanis, their record is now 6-9.
Tuesday's match might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. D'Hanis has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .450. However, it's not like Medina struggles in that department as they've averaged .582. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
D'Hanis was able to grind out a solid win over Medina in their previous meeting back in March of 2024, winning 15-12. Do the Cowboys have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Bobcats turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
