The Hillside Comets had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 29 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They walked away with a 20-12 victory over Carteret. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Hillside also won the last time the pair played back in October of 2022.
Talibi Kaba was the offensive standout of the match as he rushed for 154 yards and a touchdown on only 14 carries. Kaba's longest rush was for an incredible 73 yards. Hillside also got a significant boost from Chibugo Chigozie-nwosu, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 80 yards.
Hillside's victory was their fifth straight on the road (dating back to last season), which bumped their overall record up to 6-2. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 34.2 points per game. As for Carteret, their defeat ended a eight-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 7-2.
Hillside will take on Sparta at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Carteret, they will head out on the road to face off against Camden at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Camden will be looking to extend their current seven-game winning streak.
