Addie Baker and Reagan Beitler were major factors no matter where they played. On the mound, Baker struck out nine batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits (and not a single walk). Meanwhile, Beitler pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Baker has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. At bat, Baker fired off two home runs, three runs, and three RBI while going 3-for-4, while Beitler went 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI. Those three hits gave Baker a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Mackenzie Neuenschwander, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Tessa Bernard, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.
South Adams was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .382. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Union City only posted a batting average of .160.
Meanwhile, Bellmont was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They lost 12-4 to Norwell. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Braves have suffered since May 23, 2024.
Taylor Sutter made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. Finnley Godsey also deserves some recognition as she launched her first home run of the season.
Bellmont's defeat dropped their record down to 5-7. As for South Adams, their record now sits at 10-2.
Bellmont's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Friday. South Adams has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.3 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Bellmont, though, as they've been averaging only 4 strikeouts. Will South Adams keep running through batters, or will the Braves buck the trend?
South Adams came up short against Bellmont in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, falling 5-1. Can the Starfires avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
