After a string of six wins, the Lake Creek Lions's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They fell just short of Montgomery by a score of 66-63. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Lake Creek came into the match with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 154th, while Montgomery is ranked 804th).
Despite the loss, Lake Creek still got an impressive performance from Aedan Lewis, who scored 24 points along with nine rebounds and five assists. Lewis is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last six games he's played. Jett Sutton was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Lake Creek's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 20-7. As for Montgomery, their victory bumped their record up to 10-17.
Lake Creek will be playing at home against Magnolia West at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Magnolia West is coming into the game on a five-game losing streak. As for Montgomery, they will head out on the road to face off against College Station at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
