Waterloo hasn't had much luck against Mogadore recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Vikings will face off against the Wildcats at 5:00 p.m. Waterloo will be strutting in after a win while Mogadore will be coming in after a defeat.
Waterloo lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Lowellville, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Thursday's contest. The Vikings blew past the Rockets 11-1 on Thursday. The Vikings not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since April 17, 2024 (when they won 11-0).
Mason Biltz was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits (and not a single walk). Biltz was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with two RBI and one run. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Vincent Mori was incredible, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Those RBI were his first of the season. Cole Kaiser was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two runs and one RBI.
Waterloo always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .552. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lowellville only posted an OBP of .200.
Meanwhile, Mogadore was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their eighth straight loss dating back to last season. They lost 10-4 to Norton.
Mogadore saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ryan Woitas, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI.
Waterloo's victory was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-4 and their overall record up to 2-4. As for Mogadore, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-6.
Waterloo suffered a grim 14-1 defeat to Mogadore in their previous matchup back in April of 2017. Can the Vikings avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
