The Russellville Golden Tigers won against the Ardmore Tigers two weeks ago with 56 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Friday. Russellville claimed a resounding 56-0 victory over Ardmore at home. The result was nothing new for Russellville, who have now won seven contests by 22 points or more so far this season.
Leading Russellville to victory were Harrison Burch and Cameron Phinizee. Burch threw for 213 yards and four touchdowns on only 15 passes, while Phinizee rushed for 159 yards and three touchdowns on only seven carries. Phinizee's longest rush was for an incredible 71 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Cash Crumpton, who picked up 115 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Russellville's win was their fifth straight at home (dating back to last season), bumping their overall record up to 7-1. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 1-7 Ardmore and 2-6 Grissom (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 37% over those games). As for Ardmore, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-7.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Russellville will take on Fairview at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Fairview is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt want to keep things rolling. As for Ardmore, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Fayetteville at 5:50 p.m. on Monday. Fayetteville presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Ardmore in their respective states (Fayetteville is ranked 140th in Tennessee, while Ardmore is ranked 291st in Alabama).
