You can't lose the game if you win every quarter, and that was precisely the Belfry Pirates's strategy against the Hurley Rebels on Monday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Belfry blew Hurley out of the water with a 61-21 final score. That 40 point margin sets a new team best for Belfry this season.
Belfry got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Jaaliyah Warren out in front who scored 20 points along with eight assists and five steals. It was the first time this season that Warren posted eight or more assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Jenna Sparks, who almost dropped a double-double on 14 points and nine rebounds.
Belfry is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a massive bump to their 7-12 record this season. As for Hurley, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-16.
Belfry didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 51-41 win vs. Pike County Central on the 6th. Hurley has also already played their next match, a 64-31 loss against Phelps on the 6th.
