Wekiva is 3-0 against Freedom since December of 2015, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Thursday. The Wekiva Mustangs will head out on the road to challenge the Freedom Patriots at 7:30 p.m. Hopefully Wekiva focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up nine on Thursday.
Wekiva posted their biggest win since December 19, 2023 on Thursday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Winter Springs 58-23 on the road. The victory was some much needed relief for Wekiva as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.
Wekiva got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Tierra Coleman out in front who scored 16 points along with four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Makayla Bell, who scored ten points along with four steals.
Meanwhile, Freedom strolled past Lake Brantley with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 46-29. The victory was just what Freedom needed coming off of a 60-27 loss in their prior match.
Wekiva's record now sits at 12-9. Freedom's record now sits at 5-14.
Everything came up roses for Wekiva against Freedom when the teams last played back in December of 2023 as the team secured a 68-11 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Wekiva since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
