The Brennan Bears came tearing into Tuesday's match with 15 straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 32.9 points) and they left with even more momentum. They took down Sotomayor 56-37. Given Brennan's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 15th, while Sotomayor is ranked 91st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Taylor Ross continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, almost dropping a double-double on 16 points and nine rebounds. She hasn't dropped below two steals for 16 straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Mahogany Pierce, who scored 13 points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
Jah'dae Bussey and Jordan Pete certainly did their best on Tuesday to avoid the loss. Bussey scored 17 points along with three steals, while Pete scored 11 points. Bussey has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last five times she's played.
Brennan's win was their tenth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 27-3. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.9 points per game. As for Sotomayor, their defeat ended an 11-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 22-9.
Brennan does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Sotomayor also has no future games currently scheduled.
