Everything went their way against Lehigh Christian Academy on Tuesday as Salem Christian made off with a 68-45 win. Salem Christian's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Several Mustangs players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Xavier Gross, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds and three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Gross has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Mark Hauser, who scored 15 points.
Salem Christian's victory ended a nine-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 1-6. As for Lehigh Christian Academy, they dropped their record down to 3-13 with that loss, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Salem Christian and the Monarch will face off at 7:30 p.m. on February 1st without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Pennsylvania (Veritas Academy is ranked 740th, while the Eagles are ranked 758th). As for Lehigh Christian Academy, they will head out on the road to face off against the at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. West Chester Christian knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past three games -- so hopefully the Mustangs like a good challenge.
