After a string of three wins, the Madison Mavericks's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They took a hard 73-54 fall against Johnson. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Madison in their matchups with Johnson: they've now lost eight in a row.
When it comes to explaining why Madison lost, one person who can't be blamed is Dhaylen Stanton. Despite the final result, he scored 18 points along with eight rebounds. Stanton is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Caden Cooper, who scored ten points along with seven assists and six rebounds.
Madison's defeat dropped their record down to 19-9. As for Johnson, their victory bumped their record up to 9-16.
Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Churchill the next time they take the court. Madison will head out to face Churchill at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, while Johnson will host them at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday.
