Basketball Recap: Esperanza Piles Up the Points Against El Modena

After losing to El Modena the last time they met, Esperanza decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Esperanza Aztecs took their game on Tuesday with ease, bagging a 61-33 victory over the El Modena Vanguards. The Aztecs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven matchups by 26 points or more this season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Esperanza to victory, but perhaps none more so than Vincent Garza, who posted ten points and eight boards. Garza is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last seven games he's played. Jordan Fermin was another key player, putting up seven points.

The win made it two in a row for Esperanza and bumps their season record up to 14-7. As for El Modena, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-15.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Sunny Hills the next time they take the court. Esperanza will head out to face Sunny Hills at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, while El Modena will host them at 7:00 p.m. on January 21st.
