Colony and Wasilla are an even 5-5 against one another since May of 2022, but likely not for long. The Knights will head out to square off against the Warriors at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday.
Colony is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Alaska's top teams: Service, who was ranked first at the time (Colony was ranked sixth). The Knights fell just short of the Cougars by a score of 3-2 on Friday. The Knights have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Colony saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Hayden Sherman, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one double. That double marked the first that Sherman has hit this season.
Meanwhile, Wasilla entered their tilt with Dimond on Friday with three consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with four. They walked away with a 7-3 win over the Lynx. The game was the first time the Warriors have beaten the Lynx on their field since June 4, 2021.
Jacob Johnson made a splash while hitting and pitching. He struck out six batters over 4.1 innings while giving up three earned runs off only one hit. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
In other batting news, Wasilla let Jimmy Lackey and Hunter Delcour run wild. Lackey went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double, while Delcour went 1-for-3 with three stolen bases and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases Delcour has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Bridger Berta, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and one run.
Wasilla hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their strikeout total in four consecutive matches.
Colony's defeat dropped their record down to 7-5. As for Wasilla, their record is now 14-4-1.
Colony might still be hurting after the 16-4 loss they got from Wasilla in their previous matchup last Thursday. Can the Knights avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
