Carbondale had to kick off their season on the road on Friday, but they showed no ill effects. They walked away with  a   21-13  victory over the Murphysboro Red Devils. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Terriers also won the last time the pair played  back in August of 2024.
Carbondale's win  was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from   Davin Wooley, who threw for 225 yards and a pair of  touchdowns, and also rushed for 49 yards. A healthy portion of  Wooley's aerial production (87 yards to be exact)  went to  Mac Fenton, who also brought in a  receiving touchdown.
 Another reason for the win was Carbondale's imposing  defense, which managed to get into the backfield for three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess:  Jaquavious 'JJ' Oliver,  Emilio Isspeih,  and  Savion Jayden Thomas-Mims, who each picked up one  sack apiece.  Andrew 'Buck' Miller was another major factor on D,  making ten total tackles (3.0 for loss) and defending one pass.
 Carbondale wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next  contest,  a  52-51  defeat against Mt. Vernon on the 5th. As for Murphysboro, they have also already played their next match,  a  41-6  win against Anna-Jonesboro on the 5th.
