Basketball Recap: North Valleys' Run of Seven Straight Victories Now Over

After flying high against Excel Christian last Thursday, North Valleys came back down to earth. The North Valleys Panthers lost 82-62 to the Churchill County Greenwave on Friday. The Panthers' loss signaled the end of their seven-game winning streak.

When it comes to explaining why North Valleys lost, don't look at Joshua Collins. Despite the final result, he went 8 of 15 on his way to 23 points and three steals. Collins' evening made it nine games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kadyn Shackelford, who posted 14 points.

Churchill County was led to victory by Barry Mitchell and Trevor Hyde. Mitchell dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten boards, while Hyde went 8 of 9 on his way to 16 points. Another player making a difference was Calin Anderson, who almost dropped a double-double on 13 points and nine rebounds.

North Valleys' defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 7-2. As for Churchill County, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 7-2 record this season.

North Valleys didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 53-39 win against Eureka on the 21st. Churchill County and Reed will round out the year against one another at at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday.
