The Southside Christian Warriors and the Jacksonville Christian Academy Conquerors will face off at 4:30 p.m. on February 5th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Southside Christian had to endure a five-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They secured a 27-22 W over Kerr-Vance Academy on Tuesday. The victory was just what Southside Christian needed coming off of a 51-18 loss in their prior matchup.
Among those leading the charge was Anna Coley, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 12 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season.
Meanwhile, Jacksonville Christian Academy narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Tigers 42-40.
It was another big night for Nylah Moore, who scored 25 points along with three steals. That makes it 13 consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Jacksonville Christian Academy's points. Emma Goodson was another key contributor, scoring six points along with five rebounds.
Southside Christian's victory bumped their record up to 2-14. As for Jacksonville Christian Academy, they pushed their record up to 10-7 with that win, which was their fourth straight at home.
Monday's matchup is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Southside Christian have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 22.7 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Jacksonville Christian Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging 30.7 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Southside Christian strolled past the Conquerors when the teams last played back in November of 2021 by a score of 52-35. Will Southside Christian repeat their success, or do the Conquerors have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
