The Archbishop Ryan Raiders and Ragdolls will face off against the Franklin Towne Warriors at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
Archbishop Ryan blew Archbishop Wood out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Thursday Archbishop Wood got their revenge. The Raiders and Ragdolls fell just short of the Vikings by a score of 4-2. The Raiders and Ragdolls have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Madison Tracey was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. She also put up a run, which was her first of the season.
Meanwhile, Franklin Towne waltzed into their contest on Wednesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. Everything went their way against the Chargers as they made off with a 13-6 victory. The Warriors might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven games by six runs or more this season.
Shya Cruz made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out nine batters over seven innings while giving up four earned (and two unearned) runs off eight hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than nine strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with three runs and one RBI.
In other batting news, Ann Bernard was a standout: she went 2-for-5 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. She has been hot, having also posted at least one stolen base the last eight times she's played. Another player making a difference was Sophia Blaisdell, who went 3-for-5 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run.
Franklin Towne kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in four consecutive matches.
Franklin Towne pushed their record up to 8-1 with the win, which was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Archbishop Ryan, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-10.
Archbishop Ryan suffered a grim 7-1 defeat to Franklin Towne in their previous matchup back in March. Can the Raiders and Ragdolls avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
