DeKalb is 8-2 against Angola since May of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Barons will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against the Hornets at 5:30 p.m. DeKalb is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.2 runs per game this season.
While DeKalb didn't have the best season last year (they finished 11-17), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They blew past Glenn 14-2 on Saturday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Barons.
Miles Brockhouse made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out ten over five innings pitched. Brockhouse was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run. That's the most doubles he has posted since back in April of 2024.
In other batting news, AJ Ross was a standout: he went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2024. Ashten Tuttle was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs.
DeKalb always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .545. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Glenn only posted an OBP of .318.
Meanwhile, Angola was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their eighth straight defeat. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 10-0 to Lakeland, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior.
DeKalb's victory bumped their record up to 5-1. As for Angola, their loss dropped their record down to 1-8.
Angola's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: DeKalb hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .335. It's a different story for Angola, though, as they've only averaged .224. Will they be able to contain DeKalb's hitters?
DeKalb came up short against Angola in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, falling 8-4. Will the Barons have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other baseball content.
