The Estrella Foothills Wolves had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 32.5 points), and they went ahead and made it five on Thursday. They claimed a resounding 50-8 win over Copper Canyon on the road. With Estrella Foothills ahead 30-0 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.
Estrella Foothills was led to victory by Anthony Horne Jr and Simione Koroush. Horne Jr gained 69 total yards and two touchdowns, while Koroush rushed for 95 yards and two touchdowns on only six carries. Lorenzo Ruelas made the highlight reel by snagging an interception and taking it all the way to the house.
Estrella Foothills' win was their fifth straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 6-3. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 1-7 Alhambra and 2-7 Copper Canyon (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 23.9% over those games). As for Copper Canyon, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-7.
Estrella Foothills will look to defend their home field on November 3rd against Deer Valley at 7:00 p.m. Deer Valley is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune. As for Copper Canyon, they will head out on the road to face off against Alhambra at 7:00 p.m. on November 3rd.
