The Washington (Massillon, Ohio)
football team was already having a landmark season.
The Tigers entered Friday's home game against Sun Valley with a record of 7-0, having outscored their opponents 314-89.
Buoyed by a remarkable 56-point second quarter, Washington did something no high school team has done since 2015, hitting the century mark in a 101-6 victory.
The Tigers scored 17 points in the first quarter and 21 in the third, going up 94-6 after three quarters.
Washington is one of the nation's most storied high school football programs, claiming 24 state and nine national titles. Over 20 former Tigers have gone on to play in the NFL.
According to MaxPreps game reporter Brandon Lipinski, a 77-yard touchdown run by Raekwon Venson
with two minutes remaining got Washington to 100 points. Tyree Broyles
also broke a school record by returning two kickoffs for touchdowns.
The last 100-point game in high school football was Sept. 11, 2015 as Meadville (Pa.) beat DuBois 107-90. The last time it was done in Ohio was way back in 1963 when Buckeye Valley beat Cardington 108-0.
