Softball Recap: Thursday's Defeat Ends Hughesville's Winning Streak

It was a good run, but Hughesville unfortunately witnessed the end of their seven-game winning streak on Thursday. They took a 4-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Montoursville Warriors. The Spartans were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Warriors earlier this season, when they won 8-7.

Adelyn Knight made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and one RBI. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played.

Hughesville's defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 7-2. As for Montoursville, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 8-4 record this season.

Hughesville and Montoursville should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Pennsylvania Rankings. The Spartans will face off against Warrior Run at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday with a big rank advantage (61 vs. 222). Meanwhile, Montoursville (ranked 112th) will meet Southern Columbia Area (ranked 383rd) at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
