Sonoran Science Academy's homestand continues as they prepare to take on the Arrowhead Christian Academy Eagles at 6:30 p.m. on February 6th. Sonoran Science Academy will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Arizona Rankings (they are ranked 300th, while the Eagles are ranked 115th).
Last Monday, Sonoran Science Academy took a serious blow against the , falling 54-25.
Meanwhile, Arrowhead Christian Academy can now show off eight landslide victories after their most recent match on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Brighton Charter 58-20 at home. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 32-11.
Arrowhead Christian Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Benny Rubio led the charge by scoring 12 points along with five assists and three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Rubio has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Cristian DeLaCruz, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 14 rebounds.
Sonoran Science Academy dropped their record down to 1-10 with that defeat, which was their fifth straight at home. As for Arrowhead Christian Academy, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-4.
Sonoran Science Academy was dealt a bruising 64-10 defeat at the hands of the Eagles when the teams last played back in January. The matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point Sonoran Science Academy was down 26-5.
