Huntsville is 0-7 against Prairie Grove since February of 2016 but things could change on Thursday. The Eagles will head out on the road to take on the Tigers at 5:00 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
Having struggled with 13 losses in a row, Huntsville turned things around against Green Forest on Tuesday. They blew past the Tigers 20-12. The Eagles' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Huntsville got a massive performance out of Eva Turner, who scored three runs while going 4-for-5. The dominant performance also gave Turner a new career-high in doubles (two). Another player making a difference was Kassidy Oberan, who scored two runs while going 2-for-5.
Huntsville always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .574. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Prairie Grove faced off against Berryville on Tuesday. The Tigers were the clear victors by a 13-3 margin over the Bobcats. The result was nothing new for the Tigers, who have now won seven matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.
Kennye White tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run while striking out 11 over five innings pitched.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Kayte Struve, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Zoe Dormer, who went 1-for-2 with three RBI and one triple.
Huntsville's victory was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-4 and their overall record up to 2-13. As for Prairie Grove, they now have a winning record of 10-9.
Thursday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Huntsville hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .338. However, it's not like Prairie Grove struggles in that department as they've averaged .354. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Huntsville couldn't quite finish off Prairie Grove in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 and fell 9-7. Can the Eagles avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
