Basketball Recap: North Davidson Falls Despite Big Games from Kerrigan Edmonds and Bryton Zimmerman

North Davidson was the 60-39 winner over Western Guilford when they last played one another back in November of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The North Davidson Black Knights opened the new year with a less-than-successful 63-52 defeat to the Western Guilford Hornets. While the Black Knights didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Hornets 14-8 in the first quarter.

North Davidson's loss on Friday came despite strong showings from Bryton Zimmerman and Kerrigan Edmonds. Zimmerman posted 16 points and six boards, while Edmonds put up 13 points and five rebounds. The dominant performance gave Edmonds a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Delfina Langu, who had 11 points.

Leila Henderson was her usual excellent self, putting up 30 points and four steals for Western Guilford. Another player making a difference was Jainya Williams, who posted 12 points in addition to six assists and three steals.

This is the second loss in a row for North Davidson and nudges their season record down to 3-8. As for Western Guilford, their record is now 6-7.

North Davidson will square off against Montgomery Central at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Western Guilford, they will take on Grimsley at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Western Guilford is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 51.4 points per game this season.
