If the MaxPreps state rankings hold true, the near future looks bright for Tahlequah. On Thursday they will take on East Central at 7:00 PM. Tahlequah don't have the home-field advantage, but they do enjoy an advantage in the MaxPreps rankings.
After a disappointing eight points in their last matchup, Tahlequah made sure to put some points up on the board against Pryor last Friday. Tahlequah made easy work of Pryor and carried off a 35-7 win. No one put up better numbers for Tahlequah than junior Dae Dae Leathers, who brought his A game into the match. He rushed for 168 yards and 2 touchdowns. One of the most memorable plays of the game was Leathers's 54-yard touchdown rush in the first quarter.
Meanwhile, East Central took a serious blow against Collinsville, falling 12-49. East Central were in a tough position by the half, with the score sitting at 6-28.
Tahlequah's victory lifted them to 6-1 while East Central's defeat dropped them down to 3-4. We'll find out if Tahlequah can add another positive mark to their record or if East Central can shake off the defeat and take the spring out of Tahlequah's step.
