Mukwonago has enjoyed a three-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. Having just played yesterday, they will head out on the road to face off against the Arrowhead Warhawks at 7:00 p.m. on January 24th. Mukwonago will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Wisconsin Rankings (they are ranked 81st, while Arrowhead is ranked first).
Mukwonago suffered their closest defeat yet this season on Tuesday. They fell just short of Oconomowoc by a score of 54-51. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Mukwonago in their matchups with Oconomowoc: they've now lost six in a row.
Meanwhile, Arrowhead stacked a sixth blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Saturday. They breezed by Xavier on the road to the tune of 65-24. The victory was nothing new for Arrowhead as they're now sitting on four straight.
Arrowhead found their leader in underclassman Natlie Kussow, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and ten rebounds. Kussow is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Libby Gilmore, who scored 11 points along with two steals.
Mukwonago's loss dropped their record down to 10-6. As for Arrowhead, they pushed their record up to 12-1 with that win, which was their sixth straight on the road.
Mukwonago took a serious blow against Arrowhead in their previous matchup back in February of 2023, falling 74-36. Can Mukwonago avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
