It was a good run, but the Beyer Patriots unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Wednesday. They took a 57-50 hit to the loss column at the hands of Ceres. If Beyer hoped to take revenge for the 69-65 loss against they when the teams met, then they were left disappointed.
Manuel Ortega was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 25 points and ten rebounds for Ceres. Ortega is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Carey Mastin, who scored nine points along with six assists and two steals.
Beyer's defeat dropped their record down to 14-9. As for Ceres, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 games, which provided a nice bump to their 14-8 record this season.
Beyer will be playing in front of their home fans against Mountain House at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Mountain House's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last seven contests. As for Ceres, they will head out on the road to square off against Pacheco at 7:15 p.m. on Friday.
