After two games on the road, Beaufort Academy is heading back home. They will take on The Bethesda Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
Last Friday, things could have been worse for Beaufort Academy, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 28-9 loss to Colleton Prep Academy.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Jaxen Porter, who rushed for 201 yards while picking up 7.4 yards per carry. Dietrich Shuford was another key contributor, rushing for 102 yards on only nine carries.
Meanwhile, Bethesda Academy put another one in the bag two weeks ago to keep their perfect season alive. They really took it to Northside Christian Academy for the full four quarters, racking up a 40-0 victory on the road. The result was nothing new for Bethesda Academy, who have now won eight matchups by 20 points or more so far this season.
Bethesda Academy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Triston Randall, who threw for 176 yards and two touchdowns on only 15 passes, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. Another player making a difference was Noah Jenkins, who rushed for 117 yards and a touchdown on only 15 carries.
The team's defense also helped out by holding Northside Christian Academy to a paltry 122 yards. A big part of that defensive dominance came down to Bethesda Academy's ability to keep the quarterback under pressure: the team laid him out three times before it was all said and done. Leading the way was Isaiah Reynolds and his two sacks.
Beaufort Academy's loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their overall record down to 6-4. The slump could be explained by some tough opposition over that stretch, namely Colleton Prep Academy, Thomas Heyward Academy, and Williamsburg Academy. As for Bethesda Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 9-0.
Friday's contest might be decided on the ground as these two are both standouts in the run game. Beaufort Academy has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 277 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Bethesda Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging 230.1 per game. It's looking like Friday's match might have some serious battles in the trenches.
Beaufort Academy didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Bethesda Academy in their previous matchup back in October of 2022, but they still walked away with a 35-30 victory. Will Beaufort Academy repeat their success, or does Bethesda Academy have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
