South Pointe will look to defend their home turf on Saturday against St. John Paul II Catholic at 7:00 PM. South Pointe is expected to win -- but not by much -- so they will need to come into the matchup prepared for a fight.
South Pointe had to travel to play their first game of the season, and the final result was worth the trip. They snuck past Canyon State Academy with a 22-16 win.
Meanwhile, St. John Paul II Catholic couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They were completely outmatched, falling 0-50 to San Tan Charter. St. John Paul II Catholic were in a tough position by the half, with the score sitting at 0-42.
South Pointe's victory lifted them to 1-0 while St. John Paul II Catholic's loss dropped them down to 0-1. We'll see if South Pointe's success rolls on or if St. John Paul II Catholic are able to steal their positive momentum.
