The Park Vista Cobras will venture away from home to square off against the Vero Beach Indians at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Park Vista is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.6 runs per game this season.
Park Vista is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Saturday. They walked away with a 14-11 victory over Wellington. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Cobras, who until this game were averaging 3.07 runs allowed.
Park Vista got a massive performance out of Cooper Ellis, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Anthony Espinoza, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Vero Beach not only won on Saturday, but they posted their biggest win since April 7th (when they won 10-0). They put the hurt on Palm Beach Central with a sharp 8-2 win. Considering the Indians have won nine matches by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.
Vero Beach also got a great performance from Brandon Walker as he didn't allow a single earned run over 5.2 innings pitched. Walker has been consistent: he hasn't given up a single earned run in six consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Vero Beach's victory was truly a team effort as eight different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Sebastian Dimitroff, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI. That's the most runs Dimitroff has posted since back in March.
The win made it two in a row for Vero Beach and bumps their season record up to 26-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 3 runs in those games. As for Park Vista, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 22-5 record this season.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Wednesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Park Vista has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.3 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Vero Beach struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 8.9 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one. Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
