Pike Liberal Arts proved they can win big last Thursday (they won by seven) and on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They had just enough and edged out the Lee-Scott Academy Warriors 6-5. Winning may never get old, but the Patriots sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.
Sarah Strickland was excellent, scoring a run while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Julianne Meyer, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2.
The win got Pike Liberal Arts back to even at 9-9. As for Lee-Scott Academy, their defeat ended a nine-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 17-11-1.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Pike Liberal Arts will challenge Long at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Lee-Scott Academy, they will take on Reeltown at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
