Basketball Recap: Madison Takes a Loss

Madison was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their 11th straight defeat. They were beaten by the LEE Volunteers 64-28. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Mavericks this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 74-41 back in December of 2024.

Tatyanna Gunn and Sophia Alejandro certainly did their best on Wednesday to avoid the loss. Gunn posted seven points, while Alejandro had six points and five boards. The dominant performance gave Gunn a new career-high in points. Alejandra Hernandez also deserves some recognition as she posted her first block of the season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead LEE to victory, but perhaps none more so than Rosanelly Pastrano, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and ten steals. That makes it nine consecutive games in which Pastrano has scored at least a third of LEE's points. Another player making a difference was Lilah Yanover, who went 8 for 13 on her way to 18 points and six rebounds.

Madison's loss dropped their record down to 4-22. As for LEE, their record now sits at 19-9.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Madison will venture away from home to square off against SA Roosevelt at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Madison is facing SA Roosevelt at the right time seeing as SA Roosevelt is stuck on a six-game losing streak. As for LEE, they will take on Churchill at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The timing is sure in Churchill's favor as the squad sits on four straight wins at home while LEE has been banged up by three consecutive losses on the road.
