On Tuesday, Mt. Vernon faced Skyline in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The Mt. Vernon Mountaineers skirted past the Skyline Tigers  4-2. The  victory was nothing new for Mt. Vernon as they're now sitting on five straight.
  Molly Daniels was  excellent,  scoring a  run and  stealing two bases while going 2-for-4. Another player making a difference was  Payge Evans, who  scored a  run and  stole a base while going 1-for-3.
 Mt. Vernon has  been performing  incredibly well recently as they've  won 12 of their last 14 games,  which provided a nice bump to their 27-9 record  this season. As for Skyline,  this is  the second loss in a row for them and  nudges their season record down to 12-10.
 Both  teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mt. Vernon will take on Sarcoxie at 10:00  a.m.  on Saturday. Mt. Vernon is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10.5  runs per game  this season. As for Skyline, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Stockton at 5:00  p.m.  on Thursday.
