The West Washington Senators will head out on the road to square off against the Perry Central Commodores at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. West Washington's pitching crew has only allowed 3.6 runs per game this season, so Perry Central's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
West Washington took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Wednesday. They came out on top against Orleans by a score of 8-5. The Senators haven't had any issues with the Bulldogs recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.
Nash Ables made a big impact no matter where he played. He pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two hits in eight consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in May of 2024.
In other batting news, Cole Timberlake and Iziah Dennis did most of the damage at the plate: Timberlake got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one run and one RBI, while Dennis got on base in two of his three plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.
Meanwhile, Perry Central waltzed into their matchup on Thursday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They walked away with an 8-5 win over the Eagles. With that victory, the Commodores brought their scoring average up to 6.1 runs per game.
Cohen Edwards was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two doubles, one stolen base, and one run.
West Washington's record is now 13-2. As for Perry Central, they now have a winning record of 10-9.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Saturday as neither team is afraid to steal. West Washington has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.9 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Perry Central struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.6 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
West Washington skirted past Perry Central 6-4 in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Senators since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
