Valencia hit Troy with a four-run fourth inning on Friday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Warriors came up short against the Tigers, falling 11-1.
Samantha Gallardo made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and got on base in all three of her plate appearances with one run and one double. Sophia Vazquez also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.
Meanwhile, Foothill's hitters rose to the challenge against a Mustangs pitching crew that boasted an average of only 4.08 runs allowed on Thursday. The Knights walked away with a 10-5 win over Trabuco Hills. That's two games straight that the Knights have won by exactly five runs.
Bianca Casella looked comfortable as she pitched 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off four hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one earned run any time she's pitched this season.
At the plate, Foothill let Brooklyn Austin and Avery Victer run wild. Austin went 3-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI, while Victer went 2-for-4 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run. Those two doubles gave Victer a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Gigi Felizzari, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI.
Foothill kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in four consecutive matchups.
Foothill's record is now 12-8. As for Troy, their loss dropped their record down to 0-20.
Troy suffered a grim 22-0 defeat to Foothill when the teams last played last Friday. Can the Warriors avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
