Kaylyn Clark was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI. Those two runs gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Riley Castle, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one run and one RBI.
Crystal River always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .528. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Williston was able to grind out a solid victory over Gainesville on Friday, taking the game 4-1.
Emily Asencion spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on six hits and racked up nine Ks.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Luna Asencion, who went 2-for-4 with four stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. Brooklyn Bertrand was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases.
The win got Williston back to even at 4-4. As for Crystal River, their victory bumped their record up to 9-1.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Crystal River has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 12 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Williston struggles in that department as they've been averaging 6.9 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Everything went Crystal River's way against Williston in their previous matchup back in April of 2025, as Crystal River made off with an 8-1 win. Do the Pirates have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Red Devils turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
