It was a good run, but The Wilde Lake Wildecats unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Thursday. They took a 22-15 hit to the loss column at the hands of Oakland Mills. Wilde Lake was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Oakland Mills apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in September of 2022.
Russell Carrington was the offensive standout of the match as he rushed for 120 yards and two touchdowns.
Wilde Lake's loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their overall record down to 4-4. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 11.7 points per game. As for Oakland Mills, their victory ended a six-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-6.
Wilde Lake will be playing in front of their home fans against Long Reach at 12:00 p.m. on October 28th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Maryland (Long Reach is ranked 132nd, while Wilde Lake is ranked 136th). As for Oakland Mills, they will head out on the road to face off against Hammond at 7:00 p.m. on October 27th. Hammond comes in on a streak of failing to score more than seven points in their last seven games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse.
