The Greenfield/Northwestern Tigers will take on the Litchfield Purple Panthers at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Greenfield/Northwestern made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Marquette Catholic, but they still couldn't quite topple them. Greenfield/Northwestern blew past Marquette Catholic 19-1 on Wednesday.
Evie White was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out six batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. White was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one double and one RBI. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in hits.

In other batting news, Greenfield/Northwestern let Kalynn Weller and Annabeth Thornton run wild. Weller went 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs, while Thornton went 3-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and one stolen base. That's the most hits Weller has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Lainey Frank, who scored two runs and stole Two bases. while going 1-for-3.
Greenfield/Northwestern always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .600. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Marquette Catholic only posted an OBP of .278.
Meanwhile, Litchfield had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. Everything went their way against New Berlin/Franklin/Waverly on Wednesday as Litchfield made off with a 13-3 victory.
Lili Anne Readenour made a splash while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over five innings pitched. Readenour was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles.
In other batting news, Georgia Glover was a standout: she scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. Alexis Mielke was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in two of her five plate appearances.
Greenfield/Northwestern came out on top in a nail-biter against Litchfield when the teams last played back in March of 2024, sneaking past 4-3. The rematch might be a little tougher for Greenfield/Northwestern since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
