Last Friday, Victory Christian Academy earned a 59-47 win over Crossroads Christian Academy. The victory was just what Victory Christian Academy needed coming off of a 66-24 loss in their prior match.
Among those leading the charge was Chris Belcher, who scored 20 points along with eight rebounds and six steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Nelson Palacios was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Meanwhile, Southside Christian waltzed into their contest on Tuesday with two straight wins but they left with three. They enjoyed a cozy 73-59 victory over Open Bible Christian. The score was all tied up 27-27 at the break, but Southside Christian was the better team in the second half.
Southside Christian's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jon Jon Page, who scored 23 points. Page hasn't dropped below 15points for five straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of LJ Boyd, who scored 19 points.
The victory got Victory Christian Academy back to even at 5-5. As for Southside Christian, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a massive bump to their 9-6 record this season.
Thursday's match will pit two of the most dominant players against one another: Palacios and Page. Palacios has been dynamite this season: he has averaged 13.3 points, 1.6 steals, and 5.3 rebounds. For his part, Page has averaged 17.1 points.
