Downey is 9-1 against Paramount since April of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. The Vikings will face off against the Pirates at 3:15 p.m. The last three games Downey has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
Downey let Santa Fe stack four runs on them in the third inning on Monday but luckily Downey prevailed anyway. The Vikings sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with an 8-6 victory over the Chiefs.
Jeff Pinal looked comfortable as he pitched 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one walk any time he's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Roel Mercedes, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and four RBI. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Eddie Causley was another key player, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Paramount, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Monday. They came out on top against Dominguez by a score of 9-6 on Tuesday.
DaviD Serrano looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out seven over four innings pitched.
At the plate, Jacob Quino?es was incredible, going 3-for-4 with four stolen bases, three runs, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Fabricio Aguilar, who went 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Paramount hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Dominguez struck out 11 times.
Paramount's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-3. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games. As for Downey, they now have a winning record of 8-7.
Downey got the 'W' in their previous matchup back in March of 2025 against Paramount by a conclusive 10-1 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Vikings since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
