St. Mary had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8.3 runs) and they went ahead and made it five on Monday. They put the hurt on the Mount Mercy Academy Magic with a sharp 16-6 win. The Lancers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matchups by ten runs or more this season.

Danielle Spiegel made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out nine batters over four innings while giving up four earned runs off five hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Natalie Cully and Lauren Payne did most of the damage at the plate: Cully went a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, one triple, and two RBI, while Payne went 3-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI. That's the most hits Cully has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Jada Mushat, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI and one triple.

St. Mary's kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in four consecutive games.

St. Mary's victory was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-3. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.7 runs on average over those games. As for Mount Mercy Academy, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 4-1.

St. Mary's wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, an 11-0 victory against Sacred Heart Academy on the 29th. As for Mount Mercy Academy, they have also already played their next match, a 12-6 win against Nichols on the 29th.
