Two dominant players in Eamon Martin and Griffen Walters are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The La Salette Academy Lions will be staying on the road on Thursday to face off against the Donovan Wildcats at 4:30 p.m. on December 14th. Hopefully La Salette Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 on Monday.
Winning is just a little bit easier when you work as a team to rack up seven more assists than your opponent, a fact La Salette Academy proved. They strolled past Arthur-Okaw Christian with points to spare, taking the game 51-37.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead La Salette Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Martin, who scored 14 points along with four steals. The game was Martin's sixth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Charles Prather, who scored seven points along with six rebounds.
Meanwhile, Donovan beat Grace Christian Academy 64-52 on Tuesday. The win was just what Donovan needed coming off of a 81-36 defeat in their prior game.
Donovan's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ty Miller, who scored 11 points along with five assists and five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Walters, who scored 12 points along with eight rebounds.
La Salette Academy's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 4-2. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.3 points per game. As for Donovan, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 4-5 record this season.
Thursday's contest is shaping up to be a scrappy matchup: La Salette Academy have been smashing the glass this season, having only averaged 26.5 rebounds per game. It's a different story for Donovan, though, as they've been averaging only 30.3 rebounds per game. Given La Salette Academy's sizeable advantage in that area, Donovan will need to find a way to close that gap.
Everything came up roses for La Salette Academy against Donovan in their previous matchup back in December of 2018 as the squad secured a 52-24 victory. Does La Salette Academy have another victory up their sleeve, or will Donovan turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
