On Tuesday, the Beaver Beavers faced the South Sevier Rams in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Beaver fell just short of South Sevier by a score of 59-57. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Thursday (56), Beaver still had to take the loss.
South Sevier's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kinley Jenson, who scored 19 points along with six rebounds and two blocks. Jenson has been hot recently, having posted 18 or more points the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kanzas Mills, who went 6 for 9 from beyond the arc en route to 18 points and 0 assists.
Beaver's defeat ended a 16-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 18-4. As for South Sevier, they pushed their record up to 17-4 with that victory, which was their fourth straight at home.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Beaver will square off against Enterprise at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Beaver is not getting complacent, as they presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Enterprise in Utah (Beaver is ranked 18th, while Enterprise is ranked 74th). As for South Sevier, they will head out on the road to challenge Parowan at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully South Sevier focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 on Tuesday.
