The Wheelersburg Pirates's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their fifth straight loss. They fell 46-35 to South Webster. The contest was a 20-20 toss-up at halftime, but Wheelersburg was outscored by South Webster in the second.
Leading South Webster to victory were Cailee Blevins and Skylar Zimmerman. Blevins scored six points along with seven rebounds and six steals, while Zimmerman scored 26 points along with six rebounds and two steals. Blevins hasn't dropped below two steals for four straight games.
Wheelersburg has not been sharp recently, as they've lost six of their last eight matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-8 record this season. As for South Webster, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-5.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Wheelersburg's road trip will continue as they head out to face Waverly at 7:30 p.m. on January 25th. As for South Webster, they will square off against Minford at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Minford will be looking to extend their current seven-game winning streak.
