The Payson Longhorns have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six contests by 22 points or more this season. They claimed a resounding 69-29 win over Maricopa on the road. Payson's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Payson got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Lizzy White out in front who dropped a double-double on ten points and 11 rebounds. White is absolutely dominating the rebound category: she's posted at least eight every time she's taken the court this season. Kyndall Hatch was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with five rebounds.
The victory makes it two in a row for Payson and bumps their season record up to 7-1. As for Maricopa, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-8.
Payson will take on Marana in a holiday battle at 5:30 p.m. on Friday at. Marana is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses. Maricopa will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Highland at 6:00 p.m. on January 4, 2024.
