St. Maries was not able to break out of their rough patch  on Saturday as the team picked up their fifth straight  defeat. They were two  runs away from ending the streak, but they lost  an   8-6 heartbreaker at the hands of the Orofino Maniacs. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Maniacs this season, as they also lost their prior matchup  16-4  on Saturday.
 Addyson Stewart put in work while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she  struck out seven batters over  six innings while giving up just two earned  (and six unearned) runs off   seven  hits. Stewart was also solid in the batter's box,  scoring two  runs and  stealing two bases while going 1-for-4.
 In other batting news,  Danika Sloper was cooking despite her team's loss,   scoring a  run while going 2-for-3.
St. Maries' loss dropped their record down to 6-6. As for Orofino, the  victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 10-2.
 We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. St. Maries is set to  face off against  their familiar foe Priest River  at 2:00  p.m.  on  the 21st. Meanwhile, Orofino will  square off against  rival Grangeville  at 4:00  p.m.  on Tuesday.
