Lancaster-Lebanon 3 recap September 17, 2013
Garden Spot's Mitch Martin rumbled for the longest rushing play in Lancaster-Lebanon 3 this season in his game against Conestoga Valley last week. Martin's team topped the Buckskins as he sprinted for 55 yards on the play and finished with 121 in all.
Pequea Valley scaled the state rankings by moving to 388 from 419 this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Braves were able to make move up by topping Octorara Area 18-13.
Chase Bowman was the most successful running back in the league this week. In 17 carries, he ran for 171 yards as Garden Spot lost to Lebanon.
Miller was the best wideout in Lancaster-Lebanon 3 this week as the Raiders fell to the Cedars. Miller racked up 8 receptions for 124 yards. Cameron Strause helped Eastern Lebanon County's passing attack out by catching 3 balls for 66 yards.
Connor Ness threw for 241 yards and 4 touchdowns. He went 10-17 with 1 interceptions.
Ness put up the best numbers in passing as Donegal lost to Palmyra. Ness' favorite target this week was Connor Maxwell, who caught 4 passes for 90 yards.
6-foot-1 quarterback Martin of Matt Zamperini's team is the league leader in passing yards this season with 705. He has also thrown 10 touchdowns. The leading receiver in the league this season is Miller. The Eastern Lebanon County star has 24 catches for 281 yards.
Fans will be treated to a premier battle in the secondary when Eastern Lebanon County's Miller goes up against Pequea Valley's Nicholas Roop.
One of the league's premier quarterbacks will go head-to-head with its top pass rusher when the Spartans and the Indians face off next week.
An important game coming up in the league this week will be when Donegal takes on Garden Spot. Jeff Polites' team is in fourth place, while the Spartans are in second place.
Mark Evans' team fell to Lebanon 51-27 last week, the largest margin of any game. Jeff Martin threw for 276 yards in the loss.
