While it was all tied up 14-14 at halftime, the Foxcroft None were not quite the Oakcrest Chargers's equal in the second half on Monday. They took a 40-30 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Chargers. Foxcroft has struggled against Oakcrest recently, as their contest on Monday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
When it comes to explaining why Foxcroft lost, one person who can't be blamed is Irene Boehm. Despite the final result, she scored 12 points. Tashae' Allen was another key contributor, scoring seven points.
Oakcrest found their leader in underclassman Kate Newsome, who scored 16 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Newsome has scored at least a third of Oakcrest's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Mary Mehan, who scored four points along with 12 rebounds and three blocks.
Foxcroft now has a losing record at 5-6. As for Oakcrest, they now have a winning record of 10-9.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Foxcroft will square off against King Abdullah Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Foxcroft is facing King Abdullah Academy at the right time seeing as King Abdullah Academy is stuck on a nine-game losing streak. Oakcrest is on the road again on Friday and plays Trinity Christian at 5:45 p.m. on February 9th. Hopefully Oakcrest focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 22 on Monday.
